Fernandez’s miss punch causes to downfall
Mario Fernandez of Philippines throws an unconditioned punches and bring himself down on Men’s Bantam Boxing 52kg – 56kg Finals of 29th SEA Games 2017.

Fernandez gave his opponent, Chatchai Butdee of Thailand, an opportunity to knock him down in at least three times.
​
In the early round, Fernandez steps back in every Butdee’s stepping forward punches through his stomach and head.
​
Even if he focused on Butdee’s head, Butdee always fightback with straight punches targeting his face accurately.
​
“Nahirapan ako dahil sa pagiging agresibo ng aking kalaban” Fernandez said.
​
He added that he is also struggling to throw accurate punches because Butdee is fast on stepping backwards or side wards to defend.
​
Fernandez didn’t mind his defense when he punches and keep his head open making his opponent punch him on his head.
​
In round 3, Fernandez throws 2 missed punches using his hook at 2:16 and 1:35 minutes remaining.

Fernandez was defeated because of his lack on defense and he can’t control his punches to score.
​
Butdee won with “winner in points” after he received an opportunity to punch Fernandez.
