There's not like home. This is the theme for this year's Homeschool Convention which will be on September . With the raising number of children being homeschooled, about twelve to fifteen thousand kids to be exact, why are parents nowadays choosing homeschool learning than the good-ol fashioned go-to-physical school type thing?

In an interview in ANC, A mother with homeschooled children shares her experience.

Denise Pena, a mother of four kids, ten being the oldest. Being one that was homeschooled when she was little, decided starting from her first born to homeschool them.The reason why she decided this is because she finds that this method of learning gives parents freedom to choose what is best suited for their children. Unlike in a standard school, there are a lot of children which harder to make it "tailor-fit" for each one of the kids.

Another reason that Denise decided to homeschool her children was because she find that "Children thrive more when you give them time to explore..." she says, which not common on a regular "structurized" classroom schedule that students need to follow.

Adding to that, homeschooling gives flexibility for parents to the will be the on to think what they will teach and how they will teach their kids. Adjusting what she will teach based on children's strengths and "where they will thrive"

Even with Denise having to go to work from nine a.m to five in the afternoon. Before she to her shift of nine hours, she leaves the activites of the kids for the whole day. But even when she's around for most of the day, she has an adult to supervise them while she's gone, so... not really home alone.

She also said that there is a misconception about kids that were homeschooled isolated. The children that were homeschooled has more exposure to socialization than one being in a ordinary school. Because, homeschooling students are meets more people not just as old as them.
