Tan bucks tough stand by Layson in Tennis

Jaguar netter Daniel James Tan survived a pulsating cliffhanger from his Sophomore contender Raphael Layson as he fashioned a backhand volley to break off from a 7-6 edge in the Men's Division Lawn Tennis.

Tan cranked up the pressure f9or the leading Layson at the deciding set as he gunned down the Sophomore's forehand volleys to wrap up a tough run, 7-5, 5-7, 7-6 in the 2019 Intramurals at the Alcala Sports Complex, June 29.

losing his grip, Tan then lapsed into a series of four errors at the second frame, but he managed to get back on track as he cruised two dink shots to nail down Layson 2-4.

​

The Sophomore bounced back with a groundstroke, 5-7, to pummel Tan in the second set.

​

Putting  up a good start, Tan muffled an offensive volley to take control of the initial frame, 3-0.

​

Lason unleashed a three-point scoring streak as Tan absorbed three outside faults, locking an all-3 tally.

​

Despite being error-prone, Tan managed to smother an inside forehand volley to cage the Tigers' bet with a 7-5 finished.

​

 The SHS student was crowned as the Lawn Tennis champ as he reigned supreme in 6 games pocketing the token for the Congressional Athletic Meet.

​

'Ayos rin yung mga laban. May mahirap, may madali kay kailangan ko pang magpraktis para sa Congressional", said Tan in a post-game interview.
